Our Neighborhood Works!

We are concerned about the scale of redevelopment in the La Brea Willoughby corridor.

This beautiful residential neighborhood already has a wonderful pedestrian scale with unique characteristics that clearly need to be preserved.

The key is to maintain a neighborhood where people want to stay.

This can produce a positive example the rest of the city can see and follow.

Ample development opportunities abound without mega-projects.

We support growth and development that is controllable and compatible. We support good development that enhances our safety and quality of life.

WE REMAIN UNITED IN FIGHT!

LA BREA-WILLOUGHBY COALITION is an organization of concerned homeowners and residents of all social and economic strata who strongly oppose the La Brea Gateway Project.

The Martin Group and Bomel Company have developed the project, a building of seven stories—two commercial, four comprised of 219 residential units, and one to three above-ground parking area (along with one underground). The rezoning would eliminate yet another piece of fast-disappearing industrial property and jobs — with a devastating effect on the city's economy. The proposed project is completely incompatible with this neighborhood of one- and two-story residences.

Please contact us at any time for further information or comments: labreacoalition@gmail.com. And please inform your friends and neighbors of this assault on our neighborhood.
